Ok so I'm not completely finished with mit Bachelor-thesis but I'm really close so I thought it was a great opportunity for a short weekend trip. I went to Milano, Italy last weekend with a group from the university to see the town, explore the EXPO 2015 and eat lots of ice-cream and pizza.
Milano is about a 10 hour bustrip from Bamberg away but we did get a great view off the swiss alps at dawn so it wasn't all that bad after all. The town itself is really pretty especially the Duomo cathedral is impressive and with the possibility to actually go onto the roof you get some great views of the city and even see the mountains in the distance. In the streets of the city centre you can get some of best Italian food I had for quite some time. I totally forgot how much I missed Italy, not haven't been there for many years now. You just can't compare the Gelato to any ice-cream you get in Germany.
Although you could spend a whole weekend in Milano just eating and drinking, I decided to visit the EXPO for a day and it was definitely worth it. You'll see people from alle over the world and learn about their countries. There are the huge exhibitions of the larger countries often with impressive architecture, cinemas or just all in all incredible futuristic booths. But even the one from some smaller african and asian countries are just as good to show you what their countries is about even without virtual reality or holograms. For me seeing all those countries represented just made me want to travel even more and once again confirmed my wish to one day visit them all.
I was in Milano for just three days but it was a lot of fun with lots to see and lots to do. My trusty Nikon never really stopped clicking. Now that I'm back home I can't wait to start planning the next trip somewhere (maybe Prague...) in a few weeks...ohh and maybe graduate university in the meantime. As always here is a gallery with some Italian impressions of my short trip to Milano.
