So this is it: My bags are packed and only a few hours left till I board my first flight going to Dubai where my adventure will start. It is a strange feeling knowing I will be constantly traveling for the next 7 months with no fixed home and with only the things I carry in backpack. I’m sure I’ll meet a lot of interesting cultures and make many great experiences on the way. Hostels are booked for about the first month, at least here I know where I’ll be going. Dubai, Hong Kong and Beijing as the city-trips first and then only 14 days in Vietnam to get from Hanoi to Ho Chi Ming. That’s where I know where I’m going to.The route is only vaguely planned afterwards, I know when I have to be at a certain airport at a certain date but the rest will be decided on the way. I imagine October and November will be the hardest with just the completely different culture in south east Asia and of course the language. Once I survived those the next three months should be fine. Australia, New Zealand and the USA are all speaking english-speaking with a culture still close to Europe. And I can get a car from time to time which will make things easier. One last challenge will be Central America but at least I know a few words of Spanish and I guess after all those months of traveling before I should be more of an expert by then.
During all the travels I’ll be constantly updating this blog with my experiences, great pictures and useful travel tips I’ll learn along the way. It will be quite different to my usual form of travel where I just explore and shoot all day long and only once I get back I look at the photos and start posting them. It’s probably some more work while on the road but then again, I do travel for a long time with a lot of long flights so I should be a to find an hour or two once in a while to work without missing out on any adventures. Plus it will be good to get some instant feedback on my work while still traveling.
Oh well now there’s nothing else left than to check my backpack and camera equipment one last time and then just get going. May I return in April with many great storys to tell and pictures to proof them.
