Picture of the Day 08.02.2016
I can't just spend a whole day doing nothing but laying on a beach. But I don't have a car so I can only stay in the Honolulu area, fortunately there are a few things to do around here other than the beach. Today I hiked up Diamond Head. Well it wasn't so much a hike, more a nice walk and of course full with tourists as it is only about a 2 km walk from the city. Although I don't think anyone of the Americans actually walks from the city. Once you are there it is about a 1 hour walk up to the top but only after you pay your 1$ entrance fee. The way is mostly paved or very solid rock and sometimes you have to climb some stairs. All in all no big deal and very easy to walk. Although that doesn't stop people from getting their finisher stamps or buying a 5$ finisher certificate. Seems like for some people every walk away from the car is an accomplishment. Anyways on the top you have some incredible views over Honolulu and especially Waikiki Beach, it's crazy how many skyscrapers are in such a small town. The pictures from up there are nice but nothing special and I just love going out to the beach at sunset. Of course you could go there anytime and photograph people but it's less crowded around sunset and there are more people taking photos which lets you blend in easier. Oh and the light, the light is just perfect, I just can't stop shooting when I'm out there. Why can't it be sunset all day long?
