Picture of the Day 16.10.2015
I spend the day exploring the island on the back of a pick-up truck. There are a lot of sights which are purely to get money from tourists like the elephant-show and trekking. The show was really just cruel to the animal and the trekking was just 15 minutes in a circle around a field followed by outrageous claims for tips afterwards. Oh and you could take a photo with a baby tiger for 400 Baht. But the nature was really pretty in the jungles and we went up some mountains for some great views of the Island. Just hold on to the truck on those back-country roads, especially when you are sitting on the roof of the truck... The creepiest sight of the island? Definitely the mummified monk. It's the body of a monk who died in the 70s but thank to his strong believe it never decomposed and is now shown behind glass in a temple.
