Picture of the Day 18.12.2015
Another Picture from beautiful Fraser Island that just shows how many sides are to this great sand Island. Yesterday I showed you the incredible beach / highway that goes all around the island. But if you just walk a few minutes inland you might reach something like this: A sandblow. Huge dunes and rocks and just a dead landscape that reminds one of a scene from Star Wars (yes I have already seen the awesome new movie). But sand isn't all around here. Take the car away from the beach and you will enter an actual rain-forest with gigantic, ancient trees and massive bird-eating spiders (yes apparently those really exist), all crown on an all sand surface. It's truly unbelievable. If you would like to cool down after an exciting day out, well the ocean is shark infested and with dangerous currents but fear not as there are many freshwater lakes all over the island. The water here has actually been filtered through the sand for 95 years before returning to the surface making for the clearest water you will ever taste. Oh and some of the lakes have tiny cute baby turtles in it. Way better than the giant spiders. Well all in all Fraser Island is an unbelievably beautiful and diverse island you just have to visit yourself as I can't even find the right words to describe it all.
