Picture of the Day 23.11.2015
Sentosa Island is just south of Singapore Main-Island and basically one big amusement park. You reach the island by monorail or cable car, the later of which gives you amazing views of the harbor. Once you are there you have all the big parks like Universal Studios and of course the beaches. There are also some golf courses and many hotels. The island itself is quite small so you can easily reach everything by foot, at least that's how I did it. Unfortunately the beaches don't really compare to what you can find elsewhere in southeast Asia. Especially with the giant cargo ships and harbor industry extremely close by. I don't know about you but I didn't really invite me to go swimming there. Sentosa also marks the southernmost point of continental Asia with only 136km till the equator (that might explain why it's so hot around here)
Oh and of course you can learn about the history of the island in one remaining fort from the wars. The rest have been turned into a golf course and a hotel. Well I still had a nice day at Sentosa and who knows maybe I return to go to Universal Studios if I'm bored sometime (although it is quite expensive).
