Picture of the Day 27.02.2016
And that's why I came to the great town of Monteverde: The Cloud Forests. These rainforests are at about 2000m and are therefore almost always covered in clouds which means they are always really really wet and the trails are muddy. The forests are most popular with birdies from all over the world...although I didn't even see that many birds...but just seeing those moss covered tree and plants in a constantly rainy environment is a great sight. Walking there feels like traveling back in time millions of years. In Monteverde you have to options of parks to visit, the Monteverde Cloud Forest and the Santa Elena Cloud Forest, I chose the later one. It's smaller and less visited which means you are more on your own on the trails...oh and it is cheaper. But now I have been covered in mud and soaking wet for days so I think it's enough of the forest and I'm going to the pacific coast tomorrow. It's going to take multiple busses and a boat but I heard Montezuma is really nice.
