Picture of the Day 28.10.2015
Today marked the end of the rain season in Laos and therefore also the end of lent for the monks. This is celebrated in Luang Prabang with a huge parade of lights and boats full of candles are taken through the city to the Mekong. There they will be set afloat together with many other offerings. The city is full with people, everyone’s happy and there’s party and music everywhere. It’s just an incredibly breathtaking sight to see. I would love to say I planned my visit to Laos exactly to visit the festival but no it was just a great coincidence. I heard about the festival when I arrived and just knew I had to go there. I actually arrived way to early before the parade even started but it was a great opportunity to run around and take pictures of all the great people preparing for the event. I don’t think I can show all the photos right now since there are so many of them (my memory card was literally running warm under the constant usage) and the Internet in Laos is unbelievably shitty. But I will do my best to select a few to show over the next days.
