Picture of the Day 31.01.2016
Mt.Cook National Park isn't just beautiful during the day, it's even more breathtaking at night as it is one of the darkest places on earth. There is nothing but mountains and nature for many many miles with the exception of the tiny Mt.Cook Village which does its best to protect the darkness. This means you can just go out into the fields outside of the lights and have incredible views of the stars. I have shot the milky-way before but I have never seen it was clearly has I had last night. Even with the naked eye you could see it as a band of light in the sky. But what's even more impressive to see for me is the small nebula or something like that right next to it. Unfortunately I have no idea what it could be, if someone has an idea please comment. So this is it an amazing day and an even better night at Mt.Cook. I wish I could have stayed longer but I have to move north has my next flight is coming up soon. And unfortunately I'm traveling by Stray-Bus, which is fun and cheaper than a car but I would never do it again as I just really miss the independence. Anyways that means instead of just driving all the way to Christchurch I have to stay overnight at a rafting-company-hostel-thing in the middle of nowhere 100 km from Christchurch called Rangitata. A stupid waste of time as there is nothing to see and the rafting was finished in the afternoon with enough time to get to Christchurch...I can't wait to travel on my own again.
